We realize the importance for all chaplains to be ordained. We also understand the challenge this can represent.
Peacekeepers NW is in partnership with Moriah Institute of Christian Counseling has adopted the following guidelines for Ordination as a Chaplain:
Be a U.S. Citizen
Be able to complete pass a favorable background check
Pass an oral interview
Have three years ministry service experience
Obtain a letter of endorsement from your agency (or)
Obtain an ecclesiastical endorsement from your faith group. This endorsement must certify that you are:
A clergy person in good standing with your denomination or faith group certifying that you are qualified spiritually, morally, intellectually and emotionally to serve as a chaplain. This certification must be updated every two years.
Sensitive to religious pluralism and able to provide for the free exercise of religion by all law enforcement personnel, their family members, inmates in the correctional facilities and the public at-large.
Educationally, chaplains must have:
Completed a course and possess a certificate or degree in divinity or theological studies (or)
Completed a counseling program through the Moriah Insititute or its equivalent (or)
Possess basic certification through International Association of Police Chaplains or equivalent organization
